The Patient Approach brings coordinated allied health and supportive care services together under one roof, creating accessible, compassionate, community-based support for people living with cancer.
Cancer incidence continues to rise across Queensland. Metro South holds one of the largest populations of cancer patients in the state.
While acute treatment services are well established in the Redlands region, supportive allied health care remains fragmented.
Patients often travel between multiple providers while managing:
· Fatigue
· Treatment side effects
· Emotional distress
· Financial strain
· Family responsibilities
The logistical burden alone can impact treatment adherence and recovery outcomes.
We are creating a central, coordinated environment to reduce that burden.
The Patient Approach was founded by two local women who have experienced cancer first hand.
Through our own treatment journeys, we saw both the strength of our acute medical system and the gaps that exist in coordinated supportive care.
We have experienced:
· Multiple appointments across multiple locations
· Limited communication between allied providers
· Emotional and logistical strain beyond treatment itself
· The difficulty of navigating services while unwell
These experiences shaped our belief that supportive cancer care should be:
· Coordinated
· Accessible
· Compassionate
· Community-based
This centre was not created from theory. It was created from lived experience and built with structure, governance, and sustainability in mind.
Whilst we cannot change our diagnosis, we can change the system that supports the next person.
Located in central Cleveland, The Patient Approach will house allied health and supportive care providers in one coordinated setting.
· Fewer locations
· Reduced travel
· Improved communication between providers
· Streamlined referrals
· A familiar and supportive environment
The environment is intentionally calm and community-focused, not sterile or institutional.
Many patients spend significant time in hospital settings. We provide a space that feels different: safe, warm, friendly and respectful.
Front-of-house and care coordination roles incorporate individuals with lived cancer experience.
This strengthens:
· Empathy
· Practical navigation support
· Trust
· Community connection
We are building an integrated network of:
· Psychology
· Peer Support
· Social Work
· Physiotherapy (including pelvic health)
· Exercise Physiology
· Speech Pathology
· Occupational Therapy
· Dietetics
· Lymphoedema Therapy
· Women’s Health & Menopause Support
· Acupuncture
· Massage & Reflexology
· Evidence-aligned holistic therapies
The Patient Approach strengthens your care plan, it does not replace it.
Referring providers can expect:
· Coordinated allied health support
· Streamlined referral pathways
· Reduced patient drop-off
· Outcome tracking and measurable care standards
· Communication and feedback systems
· A cancer-aware, patient-first team
We aim to enhance continuity of care and improve functional outcomes throughout treatment and survivorship.
We operate a structured hybrid engagement model combining:
· Percentage-based service options
· Fixed room rental options
This allows fairness across disciplines with differing fee structures and administrative burden.
· Room-only leasing
· Room + full administration support
· Half-day / part-time availability
· Group and education space
· Referral collaboration ecosystem
We are committed to measurable quality and clinical integrity.
Includes:
· Practitioner credential verification
· Scope-of-practice validation
· Evidence-based practice standards
· Infection control protocols
· Incident reporting systems
· Continuous quality improvement
· Patient feedback systems
· Functional outcome measurement
· PROMs & PREMs
· Treatment adherence tracking
· Referral turnaround times
· Care plan completion rates
We aim to demonstrate measurable community impact, not simply provide rooms.
