The Patient Approach is dedicated to bridging the gap between healthcare professionals and patients by providing peer-led, patient-centred support for individuals navigating acute, life-changing events or sudden loss. Our services are offered via phone, video, and in-person (depending on location), and are available across Australia and internationally.
What makes our support unique is the lived experience of our peer workers. They bring compassion, understanding, and insight to those facing similar challenges — ensuring that no one walks alone through life’s toughest moments.

One on One Lived Experience Mentor Session (Peer Support) - $80
(Includes optional resource navigation assistance)
This session offers a safe, supportive, one-on-one conversation between individuals with shared or similar lived experience. It provides a space for compassionate listening, emotional validation, and mutual respect. The focus is on connection and support—not clinical treatment, counseling, or advice-giving. Resource navigation may be offered as needed, helping individuals explore relevant services or supports without pressure or judgment.
Group Peer Support Session - $25
(Includes optional resource navigation assistance)
The Patient Approach Group Peer Support Sessions provide a safe, compassionate space for individuals facing sudden health diagnoses, treatment journeys, or unexpected loss. These in-person sessions bring together people with shared experiences, allowing them to connect, share their stories, and offer mutual understanding and encouragement. The sessions focus on listening and supporting one another in a respectful and confidential environment. Designed as closed groups with limited numbers to ensure a supportive atmosphere, these sessions help participants feel less isolated and more empowered on their mental health journey. Registration is required by phone to match participants to the right group, with sessions available in Cleveland, Redland Bay, Logan, and Brisbane’s Southside (Bulimba).
One on One Lived Experience (Peer Support Session) - $80

We believe emotional support should be accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. Inspired by the “pay-it-forward” model—like cafes where meals are pre-purchased for those in need—we offer a similar option for peer support. Individuals can purchase support sessions for others, and we’ll track and distribute these to those experiencing financial hardship. No one should be excluded from care because of cost.
